Turkey day and more

So it's been super busy around here lately. Adam has gone deer hunting - got his first deer. I spent a week in the cities with my mom. That was fun - did a bunch of shopping, ate out a lot, and saw quite a few friends. We went to my family's cabin the weekend before Thanksgiving for the Sjodin guys' annual pheasant hunting trip. Then came back Sunday, did some laundry quick, lots of baking and packing. Then I subbed Monday and Tuesday and after work on Tuesday we headed for Indiana. We drove through the night. It started raining partway to Chicago and I had a hard time seeing in the dark with the rain because I was so tired, so I ended up driving only 1.5 hours of the 11 hour trip. Felt kinda bad about that. But Adam managed. We got there about 4am our time (5am Indiana time) and went to bed for a few hours. Got up around 10:30 Indiana time and got ready and met Adam's grandparents for lunch. Spent the rest of the day hanging out with family. THursday I baked a couple of pies and we headed nextdoor to the grandparents for the all day Turkey feast. That was fun - got to see all Adam's relatives we haven't seen in a while. Ate a TON and played some games and watched some football. On Friday we went shopping for a little bit - I bought some licorice from a farm and fleet store. best licorice ever. Wish i would have gotten more... Later I helped Dee make some soups for dinner. Adam's aunt, uncle and cousins from Chicago area stopped in for a couple hours on their way to see their family. That night we went over to the grandparent's again and had a big soup dinner. Then we had our Christmas with Adam's relatives since we won't be seeing them over Christmas. That was fun. Got some good DVDs, a sweater, some nice sheets, and some gift cards. Saturday we just kind of had a lazy morning. I set up some of Dee's snow village for her. In the afternoon, we ran some errands and then headed to Indianapolis, walked aaround down there some, then had dinner at the Weber Grill Restaraunt - SO GOOD! yum!! I had a BBQ combo with beef brisket and pulled pork. After dinner, we walked around some more - saw the downtown 'circle' all lit up with christmas lights, did a little shopping then headed back to Rick & Dee's. We stopped in to say goodbye to the grandparents, then spent the rest of the night relaxing / packing. Sunday we got up early and were on the road by 5:30 MN time. We were amazed at how little traffic there was. We flew threw Chicago - which never happens, especially the Sunday after Thanksgiving. We made it back in like 10 hours - which is about 1-2 hours quicker than we normally are. So that was kind of nice. We had plenty of time to get a few groceries, and spend the evening unwinding. Monday I subbed in a 4th grade class. I really liked it. I've been doing a lot of middle school latley, and I've kind of gotten sick of it. THis morning I was in a 3rd grade room. It's been a nice breather to be in elementary. HOpefully I'll have some more soon... I have a 2 day job lined up in a few weeks, but it's a 4/5 split class at a school that is more 'inner-city' and I've heard not so good things about the school/students from other subs and old classmates who worked there. Eeks. So we'll see how that goes. Well I guess that's about all that's going on at the moment. And I am missing the Biggest Loser, so I'll just have to write more later ;-)
